Op een herfstige ochtend in 1975 legden negen op de tien IJslandse vrouwen het werk neer — ze weigerden te werken, te koken of voor de kinderen te zorgen — en het land kwam tot stilstand. Die ene dag veranderde voorgoed hoe de wereld naar vrouwen keek, en maakte van IJsland het boegbeeld van gendergelijkheid.
