Object 817 ging begin dit jaar in première op Sundance Film Festival. Olga Lucovnicova maakte de film dankzij de VAF Wildcard die ze in ontvangst nam voor haar Doc Nomads-eindwerk Nanu Tudor. Die laatste film leverde haar niet alleen een Gouden Beer op tijdens het Internationaal Filmfestival van Berlijn, maar ook de European Film Award voor beste kortfilm.
